Understanding the CarFax Report

When buying a pre-owned car, very few tools are as useful as the CarFax report, or CarProof report, as it was once known.

The CarFax brings together a wealth of relevant and useful information about the condition and past of the vehicle you’re looking to buy. With a CarFax report in hand, you’ll avoid a lot of unpleasant surprises. Here are just a few things included in the CarFax report.

Accident History Report

The CarFax report details the vehicle's past and provides information on accidents and repairs. In other words, a CarFax history report will tell you if the car has been in an accident and how it was repaired.

Maintenance History

The CarFax report also informs you about how the vehicle was serviced over the years. The report details its past maintenance appointments and gives you a good idea of what you can expect from the car going forward.

Registration History

One of the most interesting parts of the CarFax report is that it tells you when and where a vehicle was registered. If a vehicle was registered often, it may be a sign that previous owners wanted to get rid of it.
